MQTT & Basics

What is MQTT?

  • ISO/IEC 20922:2016 standard: MQTT is based on the ISO/IEC 20922:2016 standard, which defines the messaging protocol for machine-to-machine communication.

  • Like newspaper: MQTT operates on a publish/subscribe architecture, similar to how a newspaper subscription works. You can subscribe to specific topics of interest, and the MQTT broker will deliver the messages to you, just like a paperboy delivering a newspaper to your doorstep.

  • Lightweight protocol: MQTT is designed to be a lightweight protocol, meaning it is optimized for efficient communication and conserves bandwidth. This makes it ideal for use in resource-constrained environments.
